Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker, consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated writer, author and television show host. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank to date. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next during Corcoran's early years. Her family frequently relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who drank sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran who was in the process of failing several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
